Home Sweet Home

We are finally in Philadelphia!! And, (knock on wood), so far it's been a pretty good transition. We arrived last Friday, so it's almost been a week already, and I already feel pretty comfortable with our new surroundings. I LOVE our apartment, which was a shock since we were moving from our house. But it's nice and newly rennovated and it's actually got a lot more floor space then our home. Plus it's all on one level, so no more having to worry about where my kids are. Since we got here we've pretty much been busy moving in and getting settled, but here is a quick list of a few things we've done.

1. Eaten Philly Cheesesteaks (really good!)
2. Eaten Philly Pizza which is also awesome, most local restaurants around here are big into "steaks" and pizza.
3. Visited almost every grocery store in town to see what I like the best.
4. Gone to the markets in the inner-city of Philadelphia, including Reading Terminal which is a really cool indoor market. The food here is INCREDIBLE, but the driving is INSANE!
5. Visited the King of Prussia Mall, supposedly the biggest mall in the country next to Mall of America. I was kind of hoping to find the same entertaining atmosphere as MofA, but it's really just a gigantic never-ending mall. It's still awesome though.
6. Swam in our apartment comlex's pool. Jayda had a great time, and got some automatic friends since my cousin's family is already out here.

Not too shabby for only six days in the area. I really like the community we live in. It's called Roxborough and it's very residential, so I don't feel like I'm in the center of the "big city." The driving here is like driving in IF, which isn't bad at all. It's not until you get into the city that it gets a little tricky. The roads are so narrow and all one way, it's easy to get lost.

Some bad news, we lost our dang camera battery, so we haven't been able to take pictures since we left and won't be able to until we get it. So in the meantime I will probably just focus on catching up on our other summer adventures. To my friends and family in Poky, I really miss you, feel free to write, call or visit anytime! I love to keep connected!

Yay! I'm so happy you made it safely and are starting to feel comfortable! Now that you have access to more amazing food, I expect that your food blog will be updated. No rush, but I look forward to it!

Congratulations! It must be so nice to finally be home and not traveling from place to place.

congrats! i'm really jealous. I remember that downtown indoor market - from my 18th bday. If they still have the bronze pig there, kiss it for me for old times sake!

That's so great to hear you like the apt. so much! I have to admit I'm afraid of returning to apt. living in a few years once Cory gets into the grad program and one year is in Boise and the other....who knows where? Although we are flirting with the idea of the east coast just so I can experience it for awhile :-)
