Fourth of July

One of the best things about being in California, is being close to good friends again. The Millers, who we spent a lot of time with in Philly, are now less than an hour away and ready to party for the fourth. We started right, by eating tons of food before fireworks and watching the kids put on puppet shows. Then we made it to a beautiful field on a college campus and watched fireworks. Glenn and I actually had never been to a firework show together before, so it was a first for us. We had a lot of fun!

AMAZING cheesecake cupcake Alissa made.  Get in my belly!

This was so cute.  They took turns carting each other around.

Got our glow on!

Love this girl!

This is as far as Jayda made it that night!

Road Tripping through Kansas City, Texas and Arizona

Our next stop on our trip was in Kansas City to see Kendall and Deanna and their boys.  We spent the afternoon chatting and playing at the park, and then left the kids with sitters so we could get some KILLER barbeque at Oklahoma Joe's.  Seriously incredible.

We took up early the next day and had a long day in the car to Texas.  We got to spend an entire day at Glenn's parent's relaxing, eating, and catching up with the family.  They had baby kittens that the kids fell in love with (I may have fallen a bit in love with them myself.)  They also got four goats while we were there.  It was a nice day.

We left REALLY early the next morning so we could get to Arizona that night without it being too late.  We were able to spend the evening with Aubrey, Casey and Jack, which was SO nice.  She was such a great friend in Philly.

The next morning we drove to Cali where we got to see our home for the first time.  We instantly fell in love with it, as well as the area we live in.  It was nice to finally get there, but we had a lot of fun on our road trip.

Road Tripping through Wisconsin and Chicago

Glenn and I really wanted our road trip to California to be more like a fun vacation rather than a brutal week of travel. So we mapped it out to visit as many people as we could and to do as much as we could along the way. Our first stop was in Kenosha Wisconsin to stay with the Bostons for a few days. When you roll with Kelley, there is no shortage of things to do! Our first thing was a dairy breakfast, then we did a bit of relaxing, and then ended the day with dinner at Culver's and a fun night watching a water ski show.  I'm pretty sure Kel and I stayed up WAY too late that night chatting :)

The second day we went to sacrament meeting with them, and then went to Chicago for a few hours to see Ben and Jordan.  Jor had just had a baby a few months previous and it was really fun to get to see him, as well as the rest of their family.  It was so fun to see them again!

We went back to the Bostons that night and had a small Father's Day moment, and went to bed at a decent time so we could hit the road early the next morning.

We let the kids do a bit of swimming in their clothes after the show.  Sky was having NONE of it.

Love you Johnsons!

If You Give a Dad a Cookie booklets with cookies of course!

Love you Bostons!

Last Day of School

I'm going to be completely honest and say that our school year in NJ was a bit tough. While there was nothing particularly WRONG with my kid's experience, I was just a bit disappointed at the teaching curriculum and the school itself. But, my kids still learned what they needed and haven't seemed behind this year, so I guess it could have been a lot worse. I had to take them out early since we needed to be in CA by July, so each of their classes made the day a bit special for them. It was sweet!

Skyler got to lead the class as a band down the hall.  It was...noisy.

Going Away Party

The sweet people in our ward threw us a going away party at the Kramer's house. Glenn unfortunately wasn't able to be there, but it was still so nice to get to say goodbye to everyone in such a fun way. The youth in the ward swooped my kids up, so I was able to really enjoy myself. I can't say enough about how much I loved and miss our NJ ward!
