Poor Skyler. I couldn't wait to throw him a little one year old party with a cake and everything, but it just wasn't going to happen for him that day. The morning of his birthday I pulled him out of his crib to find him burning hot to the touch. It got a little scarier after taking his temp and finding it to be 104! We called the doctor immediately, and after a bunch of confusion, we were able to get him in. We got an antibiotic for him and instructions to keep him on a regimine of motrine and tylenol. He was so sick and just wanted to sleep, or be held.
The next day he didn't have the fever like he did the day before, but he had diarrhea and was puking pretty bad, so he spent the day enjoying lots of rest and Pedialyte. The next day, Sunday, he still wasn't 100%, but we still had a quiet b-day party for him, which I think just annoyed him, but hey, we still got some pictures, right! I think sometimes it's good to know your kid won't remember things!
(Just to be clear, the berets in Jayda's hair were for fun, I normally wouldn't just do her hair like that.)
Skyler stuffed about two bites of cake in his mouth, then, as Skyler does, threw the plate away from him, signifying that he is finished! He got a really cool truck and a ball for his birthday. Grandma and Grandpa, being as smart as they are, got duplicates of their gift for Jayda as well, alleviating many potential conflicts! Despite how sick he was, I'd say he had a pretty good birthday, and I look forward to celebrating many more with my precious boy. Happy Birthday Skyler!!!
