Easter was important to me this year for a lot of reasons. First, Jayda is finally getting to the age where she can really start to understand and appreciate what is happening around her. Second, I really wanted to step-it-up as a mom and take charge of the holiday. I really love Easter and holidays in general, but I've always let work get in the way of celebrating to the level that I really want to (and let's be honest, my laziness doesn't help either!) So we had a lot of fun this year.
We started out dying our eggs, which is a strange, indulgent pleasure of mine! I LOVE to dye Easter eggs, and I've done it every year, kids or no kids! Glenn and I always have to battle out how many I get to dye, he says a dozen, I say three dozen! This year he didn't even try and came home with five dozen eggs. Of course we didn't do that many, but we did have plenty!

The one mistake we made was instead of regular vinegar, all we had was white wine vinegar! So the eggs came out very vibrant and beautiful, but if you even rubbed them too hard, the color sluffed off really easy, oh well! Here's Glenn washing down some of the vinegar, what a nerd!
Anyway, the next day the kids got to go on their little egg hunt, which was very short, sweet and to the point. The funnest part was that Jayda had complete understanding of what her mission was, and she was going to stop at nothing to get those eggs! Skyler was just happy to find anything to chew on at the moment! The whole thing was very cute.

Okay, these pics are one of the real reasons I love dying Easter Eggs so much, I love deviled eggs! They are so fun to make and eat and everyone is always happy when I make them.
And last was our dinner. Normally we would head off to my parents house to mooch off some good eats for Sunday dinner. But my parents were out of town this time, so I was in charge of dinner for the family. One thing that I always love about my mom's dinners, especially holiday ones, is how beautifully she sets the table. I had to do my best with what I had, and keep it modified for kids. So here is mine, it looks a little like the Easter Bunny himself died all over my table, but hey, it worked for the occasion!

My brothers and some friends of mine came for dinner and we had a lot of fun. Glenn was so excited because he was able to share the pies that he had made. As it turns out, he can make some killer pies! Nice job Irma! So anyway, it was a lot of fun and a good way to set some traditions. Hope you all had a good Easter too!

Ok. Where to start with the comments :)
I love the Easter Table! So cute and I bet the kids LOVED it. The pies look delicious! Jayda's dress is adorable and I'm dying to have a girl to put cute little pigtails in her hair like that. 5 dozen eggs! You are nuts! haha :) What do you do with all of them? Glad you had a good Easter!
Wow, you really went all out with the whole Easter thing! That's cute that Glen made pies!
