So when I print off my blog book, this will be my very last post!
I actually really enjoy the start of the New Year. It offers a chance to reflect on the year that just passed, and provides a clean slate for the year ahead. It's a fresh start and a whole twelve months to set goals and perhaps accomplish things we never thought possible.
As corny as it sounds, at the end of every year I like to give it a title that best describes the overall theme of the year. It took about two seconds to come up with the Year of Change. This has probably been one of the most significant and life altering years that Glenn and I have experienced as a couple, and as a family. It's going to be very exciting and interesting to see the path our lives continue to take several years from now.
So here are some, but not all, of the highlights of this year...
*Teresa laughing in the face of cancer for the second time, take that carcinogens!
*Glenn being a newly graduated Zoology student and working as a security guard while waiting out his time to start dental school in Philly.
*Teresa's place of employment is closed down, forcing her into early "stay-at-home-mom" status. Best day of my life.
*A wonderful several months of spending time together as family, including lunches at the park, and endless walks, hikes and bike rides through some of our favorite parks and trails.
*An awesome reunion with Teresa's HS friends in Boise.
*A wonderful week long vacation to San Diego with Teresa's family-lots of swimming in the Pacific Ocean!
*Our beloved home is sold to Kendall and Deanna.
*Every thing we own (including things we really probably should have gotten rid of), is packed into an ABF freight truck and shipped off to Philly.
*We pick up Glenn's wonderful sister Rachel and take a five day drive across the country to Philadelphia.
*We have a very fun month in August discovering Philly, swimming in the pool, swimming the Atlantic ocean, meeting new friends and getting to know family better!
*Glenn begins his first semester as a dental school, fulfilling a dream his has had for several years.
*Jayda begins preschool and loves it. What a big girl!
*Skyler learns to walk and begins using his words.
*Teresa and the kids spend their days going to the park, the playhouse, the gym, and visiting friends.
*Thanksgiving is spent with Glenn's sister Keisha and some fun site seeing.
*Glenn takes finals and completes his first semester!
*Our family flies off to Idaho to spend Christmas with the Johnson's, being our first time away.
So there it is, and it's been such an adventure! I'm enormously grateful for everything that 2008 has brought to us and I can't wait to see what 2009 has in store. Happy New Year!
