In My Humble (and outspoken) Opinion...

I'm sorry, but I just can't let this one go without expressing my annoyance...

So I've been meaning to watch 27 Dresses since it first came out. I love Kathryn Heigl, I really love James Marsden and I thought the movie looked really cute.

Once the movie started, it didn't take me long at all to realize that I've already seen this movie a hundred times! Same characters, same roles, same basic plot. Not only that, but it almost seemed like the actors knew they were delivering the same luke-warm lines everyone has heard OVER and OVER. You could almost sense them rolling their eyes internally as they delivered the same old cliche. Here are the characteristics of the movie you have seen a thousand times:

1. Our heroine (or hero), sweet, quirky, lives a workaholic style life trying to be perfect and please everyone around her.

2. The heroine's best friend who is crazy, sarcastic and is constantly telling the protaganist to "get out more" "see the world" "don't be afraid to love!" The best friend is usually the comic relief.

3. The unlikable character who the heroine is in love with, but ends up just being taken advantage of or ignored by this person. Of course, at the very end of the movie, the "villain" finally admits their long awaited love, but it is too late.

4. The love interest, who enters the picture as gorgeous, perfect, charming single, but antagonistic. They fight and argue, while the sexual tension is so thick you could cut it with a knife and it has you thinking "just kiss already!"

5. The main character and the love interest slowly realize the feelings they have for each other, and may even solidify those feelings, and then BAM, a shocking revelation is discovered. The couple splits up, the heroine is devastated. There are sad, romantic shots of the the two of them, alone, pining over the other one.

6. Ultimately there is a long speech given by one of them, they kiss, people applaud, and then there is a sweet, funny, and ironic ending which wraps the whole story up in a neat little package.

Oh my gosh, I can't stand to watch another one! It's a sweet notion, and I swear, I'm not a cynic, I don't mind chick flicks. But there's got to be another way to help out all the Kathryn's, J-Lo's, Kate Hudson's and Patrick Demsey's, who are just trying to bring love and cuteness to women everywhere! Let's figure out another plot!

Have you seen "August Rush"? It is a really cute and unique movie. I saw 27 Dresses too and think the end on the boat was the worst part with the worst lines! I couldn't even watch it. I heard "Made of Honor" was prety lame too :(
