Bowling!

We don't do it often, but we LOVE to bowl. Shortly before we moved we had a night out bowling with the Parrishes, which was a lot of fun. It was also nice to soak up more time with our friends.

Sky turned six!

What is happening to my babies! It's hard to wrap my mind around the fact that my youngest is six already. When I asked him about his party, I kept suggesting going to the park, or having some sort of theme party. Skyler insisted that he just wanted cake, ice cream, and to get to play the Wii with his friends. Who am I to stand in the way of dreams? We did do a dinner of mac and cheese and hotdogs (thanks to my Southern Belle Sarah for her homemade mac and cheese recipe!). The kids played a few games, and the Wii of course, and Sky was very happy.

Turtle Back Zoo

One of the best parts about our year in NJ was getting close to our neighbors The Parrishes. We just loved this family, and tried to get together as often as we were able before we moved, including a trip to Turtle Back Zoo, a small but really nice zoo about forty five minutes away from us. We saw all sorts of animals, got to feed and pet them, and watched a sheep get sheered. Fun day!

Sandy Sprint 2013

The Sandy Sprint was a run I had done a few times our first years in Philly, so when I saw that it was going to be a color run, I asked my Philly girls if they were interested. To my delight they were. The bad news is that a few months later I ended up having some real issues with my back, making running and exercise in general, really painful. I figured I'd just walk the run and meet the girls at the finish line, but these sweethearts walked the whole thing with me, regardless of the fact that they all could have busted that thing out in less than a half hour. It meant a lot to me! Afterward we had lunch at a DELICIOUS Italian place that had the nerve to move in right after we had moved away from Philly. I'm really glad I was able to try it, and I'm so glad that I got to spend time with these awesome girls again!

Soccer Season 2013

I feel the need to make a big deal about this year's soccer season because it's probably the only one we're going to have. I was actually really impressed with the Woodbridge Soccer League. They really had it together with their coaches, fields and communication. We started the season out with a parade and each week there was a practice with at least one game a week. It took up a lot of time, but at the time, it was really what we needed. The kids didn't love playing soccer, Skyler especially started rebelling toward the end. However, I have no regrets and fantastic memories of my short time as a soccer mom.
