Odds and Ends

As usual, life is incredibly quiet and slow from January to March. Sometimes I go crazy, other times I really like it. This year was not bad. I'm happy that things are starting to pick up and it's getting warmer, but I also enjoyed the slower pace.   Here are a few things that happened in those months.

I should have taken more pics, but the glorious, though incomplete spread below was a non-superbowl, superbowl party we had.  Sarah and I were commiserating that while we LOVED game food, neither of us (Glenn included) cared about the game.  That's when we decided that it shouldn't matter if we watched the game, we should still be able to enjoy the food.  So we whipped up our dips, meatballs, deviled eggs etc and pigged out.  Good. Times.

This was a cute 100 days project that Glenn helped Skyler with.  100 pieces of popcorn on the apricot tree :)  not enough Mormons out here to catch the reference, but still really cute.

Homemade masks are what happens when the kids are cooped up inside too long.

We also put a Family Home Evening Chart together.  We're still not the best at FHE, but at least we have a snazzy chart for when we are.

Fun in Mutual

I love being in Young Women! These girls are so much fun, so responsible and such sweethearts. Sometimes teens get a bad rap, but these girls must be freaks of nature because they could not be kinder and more lovely to be around. Tuesday nights have become such a highlight for me because we have so much fun. We've done things from cooking, to family history, to spa nights, to Divine Nature nights. I'm going to miss the heck out of them when I move.

 Here are just some random pictures of some of our mutuals. I have a few pics of the Bishop too because he likes to wonder in and see if there are any treats he can snag. He's hilarious, we've got a great Bishop too.

New Years Eve

We spent our New Year's Eve at the Parsons house with the Saldanas. They've become our "family away from family" out here and we love them to death! The night consisted of eating all sorts of delicious food (both these girls are far better cooks than I am) and lots of great socializing. It's really sad to think of leaving these people so soon.

Christmas Morning

Christmas was quiet and relaxing this year. We all got great gifts and ate great food.

The Wii was their BIG gift.  I often regret this purchase, but Glenn and the kids LOVE it.

 What a great thing to open!  We've since seen it and it was AWESOME!!  I could spend my whole life just watching musicals, it's like crack to me.

 A homemade bed for Caroline made from Grandma and Grandpa Green.  Grandma and Grandpa Johnson provided a wardrobe.  Caroline was definitely the star of the show.

 A keyboard for Christmas!  I've been having so much fun relearning the piano and teaching my kids.

Forget a ham or turkey, we're eating ribs!

Christmas Fun!

We had a very quiet, but fun Christmas this year. We started with our ward party, which was incredibly well planned and lots of fun. I was so impressed with how much work the people in our ward put into the planning. Lots of singing and a great program, including an adorable Nativity.

I really wish I could have gotten more pictures, but we also had our Christmas Choir concert at a local church. This is a picture of me and the choir director. I have LOVED being in a choir again, it is such a wonderful escape every Wednesday and I hope it's something I can continue to do for a long time,  regardless of where we live.

I had made these cute photo props for a YM/YW activity and let the kids have some fun with them.  I think they're pretty dang cute!

For Christmas cards, we had to do a bunch of family selfies this year. Definitely not professional, but I still like them.
