Outside Adventures

Last week was our "turn off the TV" week. Well, we weren't perfect at it by any means, I mean, desperate times call for desperate measures. But, we were a lot better then usual and found ourselves enjoying other activities as well as some good old fashion bonding time instead of being fixated on the tube!

Last Sunday the weather was gorgeous, so we decided to talk a walk on our new favorite trail that runs along the Portneuf River. It was a lot of fun and so pretty outside. The funny part of the walk was that Skyler, who sits in the back of the double stroller, kept teasing Jayda by grabbing the back of her seat, or pulling her hair, which was driving Jayda crazy...

But that kid knew exactly what he was doing, because he couldn't have been happier when he finally won the front seat of the stroller. He's smiling in the picture, but it doesn't quite depict his joy of graduating to the front. Luckily Jayda was okay with it too.

We've been doing a lot of bike riding too. It's so nice to be back on the bike, last summer we weren't able to ride much at all because Skyler was too young for the buggy. Now he's a chunk and the two kids are CRAMMED in that thing. They're pretty good sports for the most part though.

We also spent some time at the park where the kids are just barely getting brave enough for the swings. I love seeing Skyler on the swing because when he looks so unusually small in that seat!

We also spent some good time outside on my parent's patio and yard during our time there. Skyler is not quite sure yet what to think of all this grass. Jayda loves it, and she'll take anyone up on chance to play, especially when it's Grandpa.

This picture really shows you his eyes. We sometimes says he's got "vampire eyes" because they go so light in the center. They're so pretty!

Anyway, we had a good week keeping the TV off. This week I've been a lazy hag, so we haven't been as good, but it definitely not on as much as usual. But, as the weather continues to get nicer, I definitely want to work on keeping the TV off as much as possible.

Good for you! We seem to get into a bad- watching TV/Browsing the internet-stage in the winter time. Now that it's nice outside, I hate staying indoors!
Your kids are too funny, we used to have a double stroller and would have the same kind of fights going on- you reminded me about how annoying it is to switch the kids back and forth because they would pick on eachother. Ahhh...sibling battles... ;)

Love the pictures! It looks like you guys have had so much fun! What part of Poky do you live in? I thought I recognized some of the background, but I'm not sure.

Looks like tons of fun, I only wish I were closer. I must say, I love Skyler's hair.

None of these are taken at our house, but my parents live out on Lacey, a few miles from the factories. It's a nice spot.

We love the pictures and your running commentary. Being here, so far away from everyone, we really treasure any family pictures and news we get. Keep it coming!!

Fun! I love Skyler's crazy hair and your green shorts..they are cute. Are you bringing your bikes out here? There is a great trail through the woods close to us. We didn't know that so left our bikes with my parents. I am finally going to get them next month when I visit. Now I just need a bike trailer :)

Nice weather makes all the difference!

I love the pics. It looks like you and the family are having a blast without the tv. I'm going to have to take your lead and get my family out of the house more!!
