Let's Get Physical

Being unemployed isn't all bad, in fact, the majority of it is all good! One of the good things is that now that my schedule has freed up significantly, I get to spend more time working on my health and fitness, in other words "get my fat butt working out and lose some weight!"

The timing couldn't be more perfect for us considering that just a few weeks before, Glenn just got a job conveniently at a gym, providing us with a nice place to work out and some nice people to watch our kids while we do so (seriously, daycare at the gym, GENIOUS! Best gift to parents everywhere. It makes the experience good for all of us because Jayda loves to play with her friends at the gym nursery.)

At Fitness Inc, the gym is clearly split into two parts. The bottom floor, where the heavy, scary and very intimidating weight section is. This is also where the men hang out, you don't see a lot of women down there. And not just men, but fully-ripped, career gym rats. These guys literally LIVE at the gym, I'm quite certain, they are always there. Anyway, upstairs is where you find the aerobic equipment, which is where you will find most of the women. It's much more inviting up there, they have magazines, televisions, state-of-the-art eliptical machines. That's my world, that's where I want to be.

But my personal trainer (Glenn), won't let me go to my world, he forces me to hang out downstair, in testosterone-land, where I clearly don't belong. I know I don't belong, and I'm quite aware that the guys know that I don't belong. Among these statuesque, sweating, athletes, comes this 5'0 chubby blonde girl! But, I don't let them phase me (I'm totally lying, I wanted to run like hell, Glenn wouldn't let me), and I completed my workout. I've done it for a whole week now, and I think the guys are starting to get used to the fact that I'm there to stay. I have felt pretty proud of myself for being able to do it, and I'm hoping that after some time, I will get to the point that I WILL belong down there. For now, I'm just INCREDIBLY sore, and tired, and I love it.

I love the image of you in testoterone land. Don't kid yourself, you've got to be the cutest thing in the entire bottom floor of the gym!
