A while ago I posted all of the books that I had recently read. I figured I would continue that tradition by catching you up on my latest.
I found A Piece of Cake at Barnes and Noble; holding a $25 gift card in my hand from Christmas. First, let me tell you that having $25 to spend at a bookstore, is like being given 5 minutes at the Rio Buffet in Vegas, it's nearly impossible to know where to even start. But I came across this book in the autobiography section and I'm so glad I did because it's AMAZING. It's about a woman, named Cupcake, (she explains her name in the book) who loses her mother at an early age and get's caught up in all of life's ugly quick-fixes. In the end she manages to turn her life around and becomes a very successful businesswoman. I'm only halfway through it, it's a pretty long book and I don't have much time to read, but I have a hard time putting it down. I will warn, strongly, it's got some pretty heavy content in it, and it you're sensitive to language and descriptive events, you may struggle reading this book. But, it's a true story, and an amazing one at that. It's a great example of the strength of the human spirit, regardless of the trials it may face.
